I have a Digi 001 and protools, i have the 8 outs go to 8 channeles of my mixer, i was wondering if there was a way to still have 8 seprate channels coming from my computer but also have all the channels on just 1 or 2 channels to send them to the headphones for overdub cueing.

Why do you want 8 channels out? Are you mixing externally? If so, you're really limiting yourself in Pro Tools. The whole idea is that mixing within Pro Tools lets you use 32 tracks. Some people gripe abuot the PT mix bus, but thats stacked against very expensive consoles...I'd have to say it's better than any console a homereccer may have. Maybe you're doing something I'm not thinking of, though.

What im trying to do is in the mixing room i want to be able to agust the levels of the instruments though th mouniters while not changing what the people listening on the head phones. So i have the 8 outs of the digi going to 8 channels on the mixing board and i want all of the tracks on two channels to be sent though the aux to the headphones.

Just to think about.

It really doesn't matter what the mix sounds like when you're tracking. It should be accomidating to the singers/players who are recording. The mix stage is later in the process.

I don't persnally have a 001, so I'm not sure of its routing. We generally use PT Mix system...though I HAVE tracked on the 001 before.

I don't know specifically about 001, but here's how I would do it in Pro Tools in general.

I'm assuming that you want to be able to have 8 seperate outputs as well as a stereo mix output of all the tracks:

Set up a stereo aux track, and set the input to (for example) bus 1-2. Set the output of the aux fader to Channels 1-2. Set up a prefader aux send set to bus-1-2 on each individual track. The outputs on each individual track can still be routed to a seperate channel.

Now you can create a "mix" on the aux fader using the individual aux sends on each track which won't affect in any way the individual output levels.

I'm not sure if this is answering what you are asking?
