i am planning on purchasing the digi 001 to upgrade from my current delta omni. is this a good route to take? will i still be able to use cool edit pro w/ the digi 001? and how is the pro tools LE software? i am not recording anything serious but am serious about recording, if that makes sense.

you can probably get it a bit lower than that. i bought mine over a year ago, before the 002 came out and i paid around $600 for it at GC.

Are you sure a digi001 is an upgrade from a delta omni studio? I would have thought of it as more of a sideways step if anything.

it seems as though it is an upgrade... more channels of recording, midi options, full duplex... but nonetheless i ended up with the delta 1010, a much better deal and i think i'll be happier with it. now im trying to figure out the benefits of having both delta omni and 1010! also, i'm gonna need some preamps and possibly a few mics. but one thing at a time.

Ahhh a digi forum....

if i may id like to piggyback the question.....

im trying to do all the drum machine, synth and sample tracks for my project at home and then take what ive done into a proper studio for the guitar, vocals, real drum and other insturment tracks. Can i with this unit do this at a quality level that is satisfactory? since my experiances with cakewalk and cubase have left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Also is mac preferable and how much better is the 002 to the 001?

The platform is pretty much irrelevant. Pick the one you're most comfortable with, and that fits your budget best. The 002 is better hardware.

The Digi User Conference at http://duc.digidesign.com has a lot of good information.
