Hello all, got a question. I am running protools Le on a pc. I am finding the protools support to be aweful. The limitations are killing me especially when it comes to software for drums. My question - if I bought cubase, can I use the protools interface that I already have? Or will I have that expense too? Cubase can use battery and i've seen it work, its pretty awesome!

I would try posting you question over at the DUC...you will get even less support for PT around here except for maybe Voxvendor.

Too bad you feel the PTle is so awful for PC. I do not hold the same opinion.

Take care,
C

Batery is available for Protools on PC.

On the other side, the Digi 001 can be used with Cubase using Steinberg's ASIO drivers on the mac. Maybe there is a PC version of those drivers.

Cheers, Andrés

Protools Interface

I'm afraid I might have given the wrong impression! I love my protools rig. I'm not sorry I bought it,even with all the flack I've gotten for going the pc route. I only wish that protools supported the pluggins that cubase does. I am very frustrated that I can't use this battery program as a pluggin on my pc. To add insult to injury, digidesign finally comes out with an RTAS pluggin of battery but it is locked into a bundle package that costs $ 1000 dollars! Its even a great bundle but I don't need all of those other programs and I don't have a thousand dollars laying around the house.
Anyway guys and gals, this forum has been very helpful to me in the past. I do appreciate you responding to my dilemma!

LA1: Battery is from Native Instruments, not Digidesign. NI sells the RTAS version separated, it costs $199 in their site:

http://www.native-instruments.com/index.php?shop_us&no_cache=1

Go there and check the sampling line. It comes with 2 CDs, and the requirements are Windows 98/ME/2000/XP, Pentium 300 MHz, 128 MB

You should also try to get a free vst wrapper for the PC version of PT. For the mac there is this program called Ugly Vsti that can run vst plugins within PT. That way I can use free plugs like Sampletank, or a free drum machine which I don't remember the name. You can even use the vst version of Battery this way.

I suggest that you go to the Digidesign Forum, the PC section, and ask for this. That'll be the better way. If a vst wrapper for pc exists, that is the place to find out.

Hope that helps. Cheers, AndrŽs

Re:Thank You Cordura21

Thank you, thank you!! You might have added a few years to my ignorant little life. I really appreciate the info. I didn't know that. I will go there and inquire. A wrapper - never heard of such a thing. Thanks again.

The last I heard, the 001 can be used by other stuff, but you'll only get 2 channels IO. EXEPT with logic audio, which lets you use the whole shebang. That may have changed though
