Im posting a dif version of it that should be up tomorrow which is more like the original that I have here. The version up there sounds too compressed bec it is. It was converted from a wav file to MP3 and then again from 192 to 128 by the host site. The original is much more open, has a very present top end, and doesnt have the limiting artifacts youre hearing.
Chessrock, this was done last year, before I had my envoice, before I had my soundcraft, before I had my delta 1010 and some other goodies.
The fat sound is mostly waves renEQ, a fair amount of targeted Q10 and some PSP mixsaturator and some vintage warmer on the guitars. I also basically cut off everything above 1k on the bass and yanked down everything above 600Hz. At first I put it through the saturator but it lost its smoothness, the saturator made it aggressive so I left it without.
Overall I tried to keep a balance of a fat wide bottom that sounds contained as a bed for his vocals. As far as the drums, I guess the vote is in for live drums. Huh?
It was done electronically bec we didnt have time but I thought it worked. It would be more dynamic with live drums and I may add them. The other songs he did here have live drums. Ill post those. They didnt grab me as much as this one did though.
