I have an old Korg-X3 and I'm trying to use it with soundforge.
More specifically I want to sync the keyboard with the program so that when I hit "record" the keyboard starts playing. I've tried with interesting results, the closest being that when I hit the play button on the keyboard the song plays but soundforge does nothing, but when I hit the stop button (the same damn button on the X3) soundforge starts recording (of course it's too late because the keyboard has stopped!) I've tried letting soundforge learn the keyboard output commands, but it never lists a command when you hit play on the keyboard, only when you hit stop (the same frikin button). Any suggestions?

Sound forge only accept Note & Standard MIDI Controler to be the trigger. And the bad news is... KORG X3's Seq. Start/stop button is NOT standard MIDI controler :( . But hey... there's gotta be a way... :

  1. Create MIDI controler in your seq. song in X3. Very first measure, first tick, and in the end of the song.
No... don't use "usual" controler number like 7, 10, or 91... lets say... create number 25. Value 0. You know how to do that in Seq. Edit Mode don't you...? :)
  2. Assign it to trigg start/stop recording in Sound Forge. And make sure you enable every MIDI sync thing in the Options tab.
  3. In Blank new sound forge, Hit record, Prepare... (it'll wait)... Hit Seq start in X3... Voila... :D
It goes the same for KORG N264 / N364.

I haven't tried it yet, but sounds like it's gonna work (power supply went in my main comp). I just got a copy of the X3 Manual, so I found where to create Midi Ctrls. I dunno who pdf'd the whole thing, but my eternal thanks go out to the unsung heroes like that guy on the internet. Thanks to you too James

...Anytime, brother. Please to help you. Just let me know if it works, or if you have further dificulty. :)
