When looking at different recorders, like multitrack cassette, multitrack digital or straight to a sound card on the PC into cubase...whats should you look at?
If you were running 8-outs from a sampler what is the difference between these machines if you just wanna **** with EQ not so much effects, etc?

i'm not sure i understand the question.. but i'll try to help.

it sounds like you're not real sure what you need.. and if you're not sure what you need then you MOSTLY need to look at one thing..

the price tag..

just don't spend $3k on a machine you're not sure what does :)

other than that.. look at multitrack tape recorders if you like analog stuff.
go digital if you prefer it.

go straight straight into the computer if you don't wanna mess with all that.

but most importantly.. research before you buy.. if you can, try before you buy.. and don't buy any doodads if you don't know exactly what they are and how you are going to use them.

otherwise you'll end up with a bunch of fine gear wishing you had bought a whole different set of gear that is more pertinent to your needs.

do you get much hiss or noise on the recording with a multitrack cassette recorder?
