i love negative rep
i know how this usually works. you get a good tracking engineer, with good equipment. and he puts up clean, relatively bleed-free tracks.
and you try to mix them.

but that's not what life is always like :D

i just received a mixing job that i did not track and well......
lets just say i've got my work cut out for me. some of the sounds just plain suck. basically my job is "we've already spent a bunch of money tracking this, can you make it suck less"?
(i'd classify the quality not as "worst possible scenario" but definitely as "you paid for this"!?!?!?!?!?!)

so i was wondering, how many people would like to try to rescue a track?
i'll pick the worst one out, and everyone can try and shine some sh*t.

i could probably provide a small prize.
what do you say?

yeah, we kinda did this awhile back when the PMCs had first begun.
Someone had a "turd polishing contest"
It didn't really last though 'cause I don't think people were interested in hearing a crappy recording.

BUT, i'm game. :)

that's why i'm asking, don't feel like setting it all up if no one's interested.

btw. the tracks aren’t "unsaveable", but require more drastic measures than people are probably use to.

Got a prize :D

I think I'll enter this one if it's not too many tracks. I'm used to rescue jobs :o

You'll need judges too.

If you do it, make it an official PMC #13.

Im in, Or better yet I can be a Judge, I did it back for PMC #7

If I can squeeze-in the time, I'm in - I get plenty of rescue ops all the time!

My feeling is if we're gonna do it, do it right and get everybody involved, then that's what it is.

Call it something else.

The PMC's are my thing, period.

look at this, i'm afarid mine will be the worst one of the bunch

sure carter, you can judge if you'd like. maybe 2 other volinteers to judge too.
when the judges are established i'll put up a few songs (for only the judges to hear) and we'll collectively choose the track for people to work on.

i'm going to have to tap NL5 and see if he's willing to host (bless his high-speed heart)

thankx.

it's cool, there's more than one acronym in the world. don't much matter to me.

Ive already got plans, prizes and tracks for the next two PMC's Jon.

Whatever someone else wants to do (Giraffe) under a different heading is certainly thier perogative.

Besides if someone else does a different contest, id actually get to enter...

Looking forward to it Giraffe. :)

I'm up for a "Turd Burner" project. I would judge if needed, or work on it. Let me know, but it sounds fun. Kind of the opposite of Finster's stuff.... :D

I'd be in.

Name suggestion: The Nameless Contest (TNC, eh?). Just joking, mostly. Kinda like "The Band". I don't know if anyone ever heard of the band.
My friend had a band called "Nothing". People Just get tired of thinking of names after a while. Besides, what's in a name if every band is a hit in Japan? That's what I love about Japan. If I ever had a band, there's at least one country where I'd be welcome to play. :)

i was thinking about calling it
the fix a mix (i like alliteration)...... but it's still open for debate.

Mix Rumble? Or maybe Mix RUMBLE!

Most of the RUMBLEs have been more or less tongue-in-cheek . . . at least mine are :o ;)
