The vocals seem slightly loud in comparison to the music to me.
But it may be that I just kinda dig the Metal in the back ground more than the vocals in the foreground :)

To my ears it sounds like the vox are too loud up front and everything else is buried in the back. But I think the guitars and drums sound good and right for the style. Im sure you'll hear it tommorrow after a rest, but it sounds pretty good overall, to me, anyway.

Nice. I'm kinda glad that I only got that the vocals were a bit loud. Good for starters:).

I'm hoping that the drums are beefy enough. I'm afraid of the toms and snare not sounding tough enough:o:rolleyes:.

Intro sounds like Sabbath.
The drums seem to lack bottom end - is that a genre thing?
WAY too quiet - you must have ear fatigue to have turned it down that far.
The change sounds very Faith No More funky.
Vox are way too loud.
Good start pre mix.

Okay I have tried to mix this again with fresher ears. Hopefully I have some good things happening. My main gripe is the toms. I recorded them with naiant ms1o as spaced stereo overheads. The omni pattern I think got too much of the room for the toms in this music. I should of seen that coming!

Let me know how I might be able to fix it up in the mix. What's lacking, whats not? Any more help is appreciated.:) Thanks guys

Yeah, as you were mentioning, the toms... seemed to get too much of the room mixed in. The track kind of sounded like there was a layer of air/space in front of everything though. But the drums really need to be beefed up. That kind of music should be kicking my ass with the percussion! :D
The guitar(s) could also use some beefing up.

What was your signal chain?

audix i5 close and mxl 990 distant on guitar.
naiant ms1-o, audix i5 on snare, and my PA speaker and drumagog on kick.
mxl 990 on vocals.
bass straight in.

all of that into motu 8pre and then Reaper.
