Differences between Stereo and Mono cables

Hi to everybody. I have a quick and I hope easy to answer question.

OVERVIEW - I have just recently ordered a pear of studio monitors "Behringer B2031A Truth Active Monitors" and a little Behringer mixer - "UB802 Eurorack 8 Input Mixer". The monitors have two types of mono inputs: 1/4 inch and XLR.

PLAN - I would like to connect each monitor to the mixer by using two separate "1/4 inch to 1/4 inch" cables.

QUESTION - Would it make any difference if I connect each monitor to the mixer with "1/4 inch to 1/4 inch STEREO cable" or with "1/4 inch to 1/4 inch MONO cable"?

In this case the stereo cable would really be a balanced cable. That is what you should use. You will loose 6db if you go unbalanced (mono)
