Okay...I just ordered a Studio Projects B1 because, quite frankly I'm too broke now to buy a C1. What exactly is the difference between these two anyway?

I don't know how to put it into words exactly but, I do own both the B1 and C1 mics, and I like the C1 over the B1 because, IMO it just sounds better, period. I know everyone on this forum hates the word "better" but, too bad... I'm just telling it like it is, or calling it the way I hear it.

I knew I'd get caught on that eventually. For me, it's this sort of color that makes the mid range sounds sound a bit better than real, along with a sharpness or pointedness to the sound. It has both smooth body and clarity...German, I guess. I guess I probably should have just said "colored" or something along those lines...

That is part of the difference, but the electronic design is different as well. The B Series is more neutral sounding...
Some people prefer the B Series over the C Series, but I love the warmth and coloration of the C Series. Either way, both series of mics compliment each other. It is not like you are buying the same mic.
Again, mics are very subjective and should be auditioned before making a decision.

Reading this thread made me a little curious about current pricing structures between the US and Australia, so I did some online price checking and have come to the conclusion that at least where SP mics are concerned, I will seriously consider importing any future mics direct from the US, as even allowing for "top of the line" shipping I am still going to save money. The other alternative is to look at other brands.
As an example, a B1 has a US list of $99 and a street price of $79 US. In Aust., it has a Recommended Retail (List) of $319 Aust (approx $175 US) and a street price of $259 Aust (approx $142 US).
Alan, if this is indicative of what we can expect the C4's Aust., pricing...........
