difference between pro tools 7.4 and 8?

What is difference between pro tools 7.4 and 8?
Is that the same story with better interface,some new vst,etc..
Because PT 8 seams like different program..

sorry for stupid question,but I can't find answer to it, anywhere....
 
the appearance is the big one

the universe bar is new (and really really irritating)

elastic pitch is new,

i think comping tracks is a new feature,,possibly

and multiple lane views is new, so you can see the waveform, and a volume line and a pan line etc etc all underneath your track.


as far as i can see, the only other new things are the plugs and snow leopard compatibility..
i don't know about the MS side of things, but i guess they made it windows 7 friendly? (beta maybe?)

PT 7.4 m-powered is friendly with windows 7,someone relished patch to destroy internet explorer. :D
I had problem to start demo version which I've got with card 1 year ago,I've started it 2 days ago... :)
But question that bother me most is,is PT7 worth of buying,bothering and learning,now when is PT 8 realized...
 
the layouts and functions are all the same, so learning one is the same as learning the other (apart from the few new features),

BUT as far as i know, if you buy a new protools package that comes with PT7,

for example a 003 or mbox2,

you 'should' receive a free upgrade to protools 8 upon registration.


as long as the product has not been registered before, you'll have PT8 and access to all future upgrade (plus a load of extra bombfactory compressor plugins and stuff)

All interfaces are now shipping with Pro Tools 8, so unless you happen upon a shop who has really old stock, you will get Pro Tools 8 in the box.
 
yeh,that's true,,,but it's worth looking for new old stock on ebay and the likes....

people don't seem to realise that the upgrade is free,,,and for that reason, the gear that comes with V7 is cheaper :)
