I've had my eyes set on the Delta 1010, but it's price seems to be holding me back. I hear that the Delta 1010lt goes for a few hundred less; however, I want to know what I am sacrificing. I do not imagine I will be in a hurry to buy a new soundcard anytime after I buy my first one. So, what I buy has to last me for a while. I would rather wait a little bit and spend the extra cash then get trapped into a soundcard I didn't really want.

All of your guy's insight is always helpful

Thanks guys,

I believe the difference is XLR mic inputs with preamps and digital IO.

Oh ya,

I am not even sure if I need 10 inputs and outputs. Right now, I will record one instrument at a time, but that can completely change in a little bit--I may become more ambitious. But, if I were to decide on a Delta 1010lt, might it be better to get a delta 44, or 66 instead?

Thanks again?

And stealth: I take it that the delta 1010lt lacks what you just mentioned (would make sense, considering it is more expensive).

Thanks

Actually the lt is the one that has the mic pre's but it doesn't have the breakout box. The box is more than likely what is costing more. And I think one has better converters than the other. I think Gidge touched on this awhile back. If your only tracking one at a time or even 2 at a time, it would be considerably less to get a 66 or 44 or even an audiophile. These will perform just as well for half the cost.
Do you have a mixer with mic pre's ??

the Delta 1010 doesnt have the breakout box so its inputs are unbalanced RCA wires instead of balanced 1/4 inch......

also, for converters, the 1010lt uses cheaper codecs and not the higher quality AKM converters.......

the balanced/unbalanced wont be that big of an issue if you keep the cable runs short.......

the 101lt does have 2 mic preamps, but no phantom power......

i havent heard the converters of the 1010lt vs the 1010 directly so i cant comment there......

all in all, the 1010lt is a great value.....if it had been available when i bought my soundcard, i probably would have bought it....

stealth: No, I don't have a mixer or any mic pres. Just starting it up here, figuring out what I need.

Also, are the preamps worth it on the lt? I've been planning on buying those too, but if I can get em both....

the 1010lt is starting to look pretty good.

thanks for the replys guys
