i was using my toy without any problem for months, recording vocals in a laptop by plugging an M-1 condenser mic onto the right input of the US122... then one day it started to introduce a lot of noise and i barely could recognize my voice in the headphones but only when setting the input volume almost to the max.. i "fix" it plugging the mic onto the left side and i could continue recording.. then one day -for other reasons- i reloaded the operating system in my laptop and since then none of the mic inputs work well.. the right one keep introducing big clicks and noise and the left one doesn't produce anything... i've heard that if you plug or unplug the mic without turning off the 48v switch in the us122 (which i have done several times) these are the things thay may happen...

I'm not sure if you've buggered it or not, but ignoring guidelines involving phantom power is generally a bad idea.

Take it to an electrician

Now i have to agree with you and from now on I will take care of phantom power handling... but one thing still confuses me.. the line inputs don't work either... and the 48v should feed only the mic inputs right? and also the mic is functioning.. i tested it in a separate mixer..

I havn't had enough practice at doing things as badly as that tbh, so I couldn't tell you exactly what phantom power buggers up, but I think it would cause problems to the pre-amp, not the input socket - therefore if you HAVE damaged it, it's the whole US-122 that you've damaged

I think I did the same thing to mine. It seems to be OK after the insert on that channel.

should I interpret that the box is repairable? that this same happen to you? I'm still under the warranty period... and I'm considering to acquire a second us-122... or would you advise something different??

Are you going to call the new one a toy too?

I've had one for years and mine's a tool. And a good one at that...

.

absolutely right. And apologize for the words. All I want to ask is if you guys recommend to buy another us122 or other interface is better.

I'm trying to set up a portable recording studio, I've built myself a wooden cabinet (1.5m x 1.5m) and offer it in karaoke parties and so..
