So Dick Dale is coming to my fine city and I really want to go.
Have any of you "Dickheads" seen any recent shows of his ?
Does his show still rock as well as the CDs that he puts out ? Don't Know the ticket prices yet but they can't be that much.

Comments and observations on the show are what I am after.

Thanks.

I've never seen him, but I've heard good things. I would go, but this time around Ausitn is as close as he's coming to me and that's just too far for me to drive. There just arn't any halls that are the right size for him play in around here anymore.

If you go, check and see if Ron Eglit is still playing with him. He was the lead/steel player in a band I had long ago.

I'm kinda pumped up for this one as he was an influence on my learning years.

64, we do not get a lot of good shows around here either so even if it were a drive I'd go because... well... he's DICK man and I like Dick.:D :D I don't care what joe says.;)

philboyd, I'll check it out, any band names you want me to drop ? Is Dicks son still playing drums for him ?

Thanks guys.

Ginzoo,

The band was called 'Old Glory'......Ron thought it up while sitting on the toilet one day. He was in a surf band called the Knights of Day back in the mid sixties that was locally popular in So. Cal. Though we were a too soon progressive country band doing original material we'd still do a surf medley......it usually brought the house down.

We used to have a place here in Ft. Worth called the "Caravan of Dreams" where DD would play and just about every other cool band I can think of. Many bands used to say it was their fav place to play because the staff treated them so well. But alas, it's gone now.

phil, I'll keep that in mind when I go and see if Ron is still playing with my Dick.:D

philboyd, I spoke with Dick and Ron tonight. Ron does not remember much about the band because it was so long ago. He would like to speak with you about specifics and such.

Contact me for hook-ups.OR I'll p-m you.

So, how was the show?

The show was fucking awesome. I have been waiting about 20 years to see Dick and I was blown away. The guy really is amazing.
Nothing too flashy, just the great surf guitar sound that he created...and is still improving upon. Very heavy now and REALLY loud.My ears are still killing me.
I could have done without the acoustic set but that was sort of cool also.
The highlight of my night was talking to him for about 20 mins. Then meeting Ron and racking his brain about his and philboyds band. Great band all around.Very tight.

I can only hope to rock as hard as Dick when I get that age.
