Here's what's going on in my newbie head: Sub outs are going to inputs 1 & 2 on the soundcard. 1 & 2 outputs on the soundcard are going back into mixer inputs 15L and 16R. The controller is going in a USB MIDI interface(no joystick port) and is coming out of outputs 3 & 4 on the soundcard(arrow on box) and into mixer inputs 19L & 20R. Amp is going out of "monitor" on the mixer and the monitors are coming out of the amp. Duh. Does this work? Any feedback or suggestions would be great. Thanks!

Please note that I am just getting started and this is the first step for me. :)

Looks good to me. Only, you don't have to hook the main outputs (of the soundcard) back up to the mixer. You can go straight from the soundcard to the power amp, and it'll work fine. That doesn't give you the option of monitoring on different systems (headphones etc.) but you can use other outputs on your soundcard or mixer for that.

I'm not following the midi thing though. Are you trying to hook it up to audio channels? Any midi connection with the pc will suffice, since you don't seem to have any outboard midi stuff that wants a signal send to it anyway.

This comes up so often here that I wrote this article for EQ magazine:

I'm not familiar with your mixer, but if it has direct outputs or channel insert points, the approach shown in my article will work.

Does it matter if it's TRS or TS when coming from the mixer inserts to sound card inputs? It's just a signal being sent so TS unbalanced cable should work fine, right? Thanks again.
