A DI box is basicly a transformer right? To change the voltage on a signal so that it is higher, therefore making a lower impedance. Okay..... I got that.
I took an old passive DI box of mine apart ad found there was other things on the circuit board other than the transformer - does anyone have any idea what these may be?
Also, I was wondering what the difference between Active and Passive DI boxes was? I'm assuming the Active DI box contains a small pre-amp to boost the outputting signal a little, but I may be wrong. If this is the case, can you still get a balanced AND an unbalanced signal out of an Active DI box at the same time? (At the moment with my passive DI box I plug into the High input and have a lead from the other high input going to my amp, while the balanced low input goes to the PA. I guess this works because the other high input connects to the other end of the transofrmer)
