DG Stomp into my G3

I picked up my new Yamaha DG Stomp digital amp modeler and I'm ready to try to record anythiing via my Mac G3 (B&W) into Pro Tools Free. I'm running the signal from the mono line out into the Mac's audio input (using a 1/4 to 1/8" coverter). How do I get sound through the system? How can I tell if the sound fmor the DG is getting into the Mac? I've got a pair of Yamaha speakers connected to my Mac, but I'm not getting any guitar sounds out of them.

I'm totally new to all this, so please help me out before I blow something up!

I don't believe so. I only remember seeing the mute option for sound out, not in...

I'm updating my OS from 8.6 to 9.1 tonight when I get home from work. I believe that will give me more options in the Sound control panel...
 
iMic

Someone else responded to my similar post on another site, suggesting that I probably need an iMic to get a level hot enough to record. If this is a real solution, I can't complain about the cost... just $35 for the iMic.
