Bow

3 Days Drunk
Here is a question...
If I tune down 1/2 a step flat, does the bass player have to do the same? If he didn't, it will sound out of tune.

I'm I correct in this thinking?

Thanks

Yes and No. If you tune down one half step the bass player can of course do the same so that both guitars are in tune with each other. Or optionally he can play one fret lower. Each fret on the guitar is one half step. So if the boy does not play by watching your fingers in the 3rd fret or what not...he will get the same note if he uses the second fret. Make sence?

Thanks Even

I was just wondering...
Like Jake E Lee tunes 1/2 step flat as did SRV..so the bass player did too?

That is what I thought.

Thanks for not flaming me on that question!

Bow,

Yeah, the easiest thing would be for everyone to tune down a half step. If you tuned down to Eb, your bass player could hit an Eb but it would be on the A string 6th fret. He wouldn't be able to hit a low Eb with an open E string like you are. Most rock people these days tune all the way down to D. Yuk.

Or, you could just be like Kiss or Van Halen and tune to whatever you like just as long as everyone is in tune with each other. That would make your songs harder to figure out. ;-]

The finger placing differs but an A note stays an A note and a B note stays a B note?!?!.

Before you start d tuning and stuff, get a bit more familiar with the theory of music and notes etc. Then it does not matter what alternate tuning you have on your guit.
