Desperately seeking Stereo

I'm trying to mix down my MIDI and audio tracks onto two stereo audio tracks. The problem I'm experiencing is that when I play back the two new audio tracks (solo'ed) it appears that the stereo mix has disappeared and has become a mono mix. That's the first problem. Second, I'm trying to run the mixdown through an effects processor to add some reverb to the final mix, but when I get the record level up where it's supposed to be, the input level peaks and I get this really annoying squeal (my ears are killing me and my monitors, not to mention my dogs, aren't too happy either). This happens in the headphones too, without the monitors on. Do I need two mixers for this (BTW I'm using a Mackie 1202-VLZ if that helps any / I'm using it output and input, and I think I have a loop somewhere that I don't want). Thanx, Tom

Right.

To mix down all your tracks, they all have to be recorded as AUDIO, right? Well... there are 3 ways of recording audio in CW.

1. One track: MONO
2. One track: STEREO
3. TWO tracks: STEREO (seperates left and right channels)

You should be using #3.

When you create your mixdown, you can choose the tracks you want to mix down. Choose all the LEFT CHANNEL audio tracks, and mix them down to a file called "Left Channel" or something more obvious :) Then choose all the RIGHT CHANNEL tracks and mix those down. You now have two mono mixdown tracks, but when played with each other it is stereo, cos one is left and one is right!

Make sure when you record your midi as audio that you use #3 as well!

WHen I first did a mixdown it came on one track but in stereo. I was expecting a two trac stereo mixdown. Are sure its not stereo on one track?I hope this isn't a stupid reply. Anyways Marino rules always will.See ya
 
Thanx guys. The problem was that I wasn't using the handy-dandy mixdown tool. Wow, what a concept! It seems to be working fine. Now all I have to do is somehow blame my shitty mix on computer error, and not the operator. Tom.
