Hi this is my first post here and I need some opinions and workable criticism on a track I've done.. It's the first time I've recorded vocals (I'm looking for a singer but in the meantime I just recorded them myself) so I need some feedback on those more than anything else (but also for the whole thing)..
The equipment used was an Akai sampler, an elecro acoustic guitar (miked and DIed) and some soft synths recorded in Cubase.. There are a few tracks on the page but the one I particularly need help with is called End of the Blues. You can get to it through the link below. Cheers all..

Dope song man

I'm new to recording so I don't know much about the technical side of things. But I think this song is pretty damn good. The only part that seems a little off to me is in the beginning when the acoustic first comes in and the singing. There are points where it seems a bit off time from the piano. Like the guitar is moving a bit too fast.

As for the vocals, I don't know what you're worried about. I think they sounded good. Kind of Jack Johnsonesque. Good song.

Thanks for that Jimmy, I made a few adjustments to the intro after reading your comments, cheers m8..
Any other comments people?

for end of the blues ,i think your vocals sound nice, i think the only thing is the bass. the low note is extremly booomyyy. try using a compressor to tame that lowwww boom peak. and i dont really like the faster hi hat pattern toward the end. either then that you got a real smooth sound !!! u2cool meng!!!

the hi-hat in the right channel seems like it's clipping. I'm assuming this is a sample, so maybe choose another? It is really, really harsh.

Very cool beats and sounds. Just make sure you're watching your dB. I usually go with -4dB as a final mix, then compress the whole track as a whole to bring up the volume. Not much to say here, you have a good handle on what you are doing.

The bass drum may be my only other problem (in God of Science)...it seems almost too bassy, starving for a couple of 12" subs. Make sure us with the regular speakers aren't missing out.

Hope that helps!

Jibesy...

great stuff, very original, I really enjoyed it! I'm not experienced enough to give you a decent critique, but if compliments are what you're after, consider it done :)

Thanks for the link.
