Hi everyone,

I need a simple system to record vocals via the computer. I purchased an MBOX and dont like protools..but am using a free demo of Sony Acid and really like it.

I figured out how to listen to a recording using the SONY program via my mbox2 through the headphones I have plugged into the mbox.

BUT I cant figure out how to record. I have a condensor mic plugged into the MBOX.
If my settings in Sony Acid in preferences are on AUDIO I can see the monitor in record moving up and down and hearing the mic sounds..but when I click record I get a wave of fuzz and noise and cant hear anything I said ..

When I have it set to MIDI there is no response at all.

Does the mbox2 work with Sony Acid with a condensor microphone? If so what settings should I use.

I would greatly appreciate some help as I have spent hours trying to figure this out with no success.

I think MBox only works with the included ProTools software, but don't quote me on that.
Other than that, any condenser microphone should work with your MBox.

Also, don't worry about MIDI if you are just trying to record vocals. MIDI is NOT audio.

If your MBox is spitting out your Acid output, I'm really surprised. Long story short, if you want to use Acid, then you need a different interface. Mbox will not work with anything but pro tools....and yeah, there's no level on midi because you're not using midi. That's a whole different ballgame that it doesn't sound like you need to worry about.

this is incorrect
Mbox works with many programs, including Acid.
First make sure you have the latest ASIO drivers: http://digidesign.com/download/asio/
or the ones that are on your installation CD...it should have given you that option when you installed Pro Tools.

It sounds like a driver issue if you are hearing problems with fuzz and noise when you record.
