Pleads the 5th...
After ~3 years of editting MIDI files so that they don't sound "cheesy", I'm about ready to take the show on the road. The act consists of me, my voice, my guitar, and a full MIDI accompaniment. I'm looking to put together a P.A system that will be crisp and clean, with "IN YOUR FACE" bass, that is compact enough for me to carry around without the use of a semi-truck and fifteen large roadies. The rooms I will be playing will hold aprox. 50-200 people. At the moment I have 2-JBL G734s and an SR4718X Sub, along JBL/Urie amps, Mackie mixer, etc. This system (especially the sub; I didn't realize how big two cubic feet was until it arrived at my doorstep!) is Too big for me to lug around myself. Any advice on a smaller system configuration (powered or non-powered spakers) with a sub-woofer would be greatly appreciated. I want to sound "BIG", and money really isn't an object because it's my butt on the stage! Thanx! Also, I'm thinking about transfering my MIDI sequences onto CD/digital audio format so I don't have to bring a laptop to the gig. Any pro's/con's, other than having the right mix, with this idea?

you wouldn't have to worry about your laptop getting stolen... that'd be my biggest fear

The mackie powered sr450 are nice and very clean sounding. Combine them with the mackie
powered sub and they really sound nice. I use this set up myself and cannot say enough good things. The 450s have 15" 300 watt amp and 150 watt horn. the sub i believe is called sr1500
is 15" can't remember the wattage. check them out at www.mackie.com These are all self contained and easy to move.
You also can't go wrong with JBL
Hope this was some help.
peace supper
