I'm gonna do the proper 25.5" scale-length because I also think the 24.75" just won't sound right. I also want to be able to string this guitar up with thicker strings (12-56) and drop it to B for a sort of baritone-guitar type thing to use in the studio, so the longer scale-length is definitely the way to go. I did think of going full-on baritone-scale (27") with this one, but I won't use a baritone enough to justify it.
BTW, I have posted it here before, but here's a pic of a V I built (following the same criteria as for my other builds):

basically I'd have a copy of an Ibanez RG2027 7-string, with the double-edge (piezo) trem. trans green flamed maple top. Maple fretboard with offset dots, and a 3-way toggle to replace the 5-way selector. Air Norton 7 in the neck and an Evo-7 in the bridge basically this guitar....

Mine would be a Gibson ES-355 with blonde finish, matching blonde maple headstock, Bigsby, bound f-holes, and Gretsch-style half-moon fingerboard inlays. '57 humbuckers, mono wiring...
...but my 335 Dot is almost all of that (except the Bigsby) so I guess I'll stick with it.

My main electric is a Heritage H-555. There's no other type of electric that feels as natural to my hands as an ES-335 type. I used to have Fralin PAFs in it (Fralin's version of the '57). The tone was extraordinary. I'm running Fralin P-92s in it now because the extra single coil spank fits the music I'm doing.
I hope you get your 355 someday.
