Trying to set up my new delta44 soundcard and ran into a problem. My computer tones are going to the Delta44 as well as any MP3 files played in Windwos Media Player. However, CD audio is still getting sent to the old card, as well as Cakewalk Pro Audio Midi sound files.

I've been messing around with the Multimedia properties in the control panel folder and noticed that under the Midi tab it only lists the old sound card, which I'm guessing is because the Delta44 isn't midi capable. That's fine, I just want the audio signal to get sent to it. Under the Devices tab I've set it to not map through the old soundcard and have also marked "Do not use Audio Features on this device"

Basically, I'm trying to get every signal that used to get sent to the old card and thus played out my computer speakers to go to the Delta44 outputs 1 and 2.

Please help!

as for your old sound card....is it a motherboard sound card or a PCI slot sound card...if its PCI...take out. also under devices....sometimes telling the computer not to use it isnt enough....disable the drivers for the old sound card or better yet, remove the drivers for the old sound card.

The CD Audio will not be routed through the Delta if the audio output of the CD-ROM is connected to the onboard audio. If you want audio to be routed through the Delta, you will need to use a Windows CD player that supports digital audio extraction and actually gets the audio data through the IDE interface.

Most prosumer cards (Delta included) do not have an onboard MIDI synth like soundblasters do. If you want to hear MIDI files, you need to route those tracks to a software synth in whatever program you're using for DAW work (Sonar, Cubase, etc...).

Yeah, I figured all of this out. I'm using Cakewalk, and just default playing of a cakewalk midi file was going to the old card. I guess at this point I'll head to the Cakewalk forum if I can't get it solved.

I don't think my current CD-Rom will allow for digital extraction as Windows Media Player 9 doesn't allow me to select it. This is a minor annoyance and can be handled by purchasing a more modern CD-ROM.

Thanks for the help.
