SOUND DIAGNOSIS

New member
I am awaiting a Delta Omni studio for my Windows XP system. I presently have a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz soundcard that came with my puter. For now, I would like to maintain this puter as a combo PC/DAW. I would like to keep it this way for the time being. Am I looking for trouble here? Conflicts, etc? I have heard of BIOS files, IRQ'S, but that's about it. Scary new ground there. Any suggestions, other than call M-AUDIO when the shit hits the fan? (One of their techs said take the old card out) Thanks in advance! ---Lee

Hi Lee,
I have an omni studio W/delta 66 and I am using my soundblaster (onboard)card on the same computer with no problem's. I'm somewhat technically challenged but got mine working fine. You may or may not have problem's. You will just have to try installing it and see if any conflicts occur. You may have to move it around to different slot's if it's sharing an IRQ with conflicting hardware like a video card or other. So you will probably need to get to know your device manager. Try this link, it may help you through some of the problem's IRQ Info

That's a great resource, Joe. Thanks. Hope I don't have to delve to deeply into any IRQ conflicts, but thanks for the quick response and kick-ass link. I'll post next week on this thread and let you know how it goes! Thanks!! ---Lee
