I know the Delta 66 card is not supposed to be run on windows xp because the driver is not digitally signed. does anyone else do it anyways like i do? any anecdotal warnings?
The digital signature just confirms who the driver is from and that it hasn't been tampered with. M-Audio doesn't sign their drivers, but that doesn't mean that you're not supposed to use them. Windows will pop up a warning message because that's what windows does.....as long as you get your drivers directly from the m-audio website, there is little chance that they have been tampered with.
Lots of drivers from major companies are not "signed" as far as XP is concerned, and generate that same warning. For example, the driver for Creative's Jukebox 3 is not signed. I believe I read that MS made the certification process unduly tough, and that many companies don't bother to comply. Like Slack says, no worries as long as you know where the drivers came from.
