Delta 66 setup - some sounds coming through, but not all

Just received a second hand Delta 66, which I believe to be in full working order. Dropped it into my PC, and disabled the on board sound chip for the time being.

I have the latest drivers installed (on XP Pro SP2).

My speakers have built in S/PDIF input, so i'm using the S/PDIF out as the output device.

At first I thought I had no sound working, so I left it to come back to later. Then happened to follow a link on a site to a flash movie, and got sound - hooray, I thought. However, only certain things get heard. I can hear MP3s played through Windows Media Player, OGG files played via Jet Audio etc. However, some videos (WMA) do and some don't sound. In all cases, I can see the levels bouncing in the Monitor Mixer, so it looks like the signal is being directed to the right place. Windows system sounds don't get heard, though again the levels jump when I do a trial "play" from the Sounds tab of the Sounds and Audio Devices Properties option within Control Panel.

As far as recording is concerned, then I can get 2 channel recording coming in (using Audacity at the moment) - no sounds play back though.

Currently I have the Sound Playback device set to M-Audio Delta 66 S/PDIF, and Sound Recording as the Mon. Mixer.
Patchbay/Router set thus:
H/W Out 1/2 : WavOut 1/2
H/W Out 3/4 : WavOut 3/4
H/W Out S/PDIF: WavOut S/PDIF

"Disable audio app use of Monitor Mixer" is checked, and everything else set to default as far as I can see.

Any thoughts? I know I will probably not want to have system sounds coming through the Delta in the long term, but I just want to get it all running "straight" first - then I'll start playing.
