My band is thinking about getting a Delta 66 but I'm a little worried about running mic into a 1/4 inch input cause the vocals might lose that fat sound. See I want to run the mic into a mic tube pre amp using XLR and then into the 1/4" input on the Delta 66.
We tried recording 4 demo's using a Roland workstation but the vocals didn't have any presence and came out thin and distant even though we made sure the vocals were up front and center. We just ran the mic straight into the 1/4" input on the workstation. The work station doesn't have XLR inputs.

I've sung with a mic tube pre amp before and recorded it in a studio and the vocals sounded good and had presence. I know I can't sound that bad like in our demos.
So my question is will my vocals lose that fat sound if after running through a tube pre amp they go into the 1/4" input on the Dleta 66?
