Delta 44 Question

Hi, i'm looking to buy a card that can record multiple tracks at once..right now I have an Audigy, with a mixer plugged into it, so all the mics i use, always get mixed into one when i use my mixing program and such, like sonor

So I posted and people told me to buy a Delta 1010, which is a bit expensive. Then BDrum posed that he was able to actually use more than one Delta 44, but I read on other sites that this is impossible. Does anyone know anymore about this? It would be nice to buy one now..then to upgrade later just buy another one.

Even if you cannot stack them, 4 tracks recording at once is better than just one. I could just mix my 8 mics for the drums into 4 tracks right?

Is there another card thats similar and maybe cheaper? Also, if I do buy this Delta 44, i'm wondering how I am going to plug the mics into it. It looks like I'll need a pre-amp for every channel? Is that correct? They seem to be another 50 bucks a piece..making the total bill about 500 bucks..which I don't have..
(Also I know absoulutly nothing about Pre-Amps, can I just buy one and use it for all 4 channels at the same time? Or is it one for every channel?)

Any suggestions or ideas would be great

If you have a mixer, you can just use the group outs and plug those into the Delta 44. What kind do you have?

I have a yamaha 660 (kinda a cheap one, its one of those like boxes,bought it when we first started out, paid like 900 bucks for a package deal, came with mics and stuff). I'm not sure how we would the mixer into the delta though. How would I send just one mic to just one input? Our mixer has like a rec out (that uses the white and red cables) then a monitor out, and a main out that uses the cables that look like guitar cables..

I'm guessing you can't do that with our mixer then?

Why not get a delta1010LT. For $220 you get 8 inputs, and it comes with 2 built in preamps. I don't think you can stack delta 44s

I have 3 delta 44's in one computer.

I havnt had a problem recording 12 tracks at once.

just buy a mixer..mixers have both pre-amps and direct outs (sometimes only inserts, just as usefull ,just plug the 1/4 cable in half way.)

The inserts take the signal (usally) directly after the pre-amp so there wont be any eq or fader effect on the signal.. so just go from the direct out (or insert) into the delta 44. Thats if you want one mic for one channel.

If you want like a few mics for one input...then use the sub out on your mixer and rout them to the delta. Then to select the mics you want to go that the delta, just push the little 1-2 button on the channel and it should work.
