I finally bit the bullet and bought a Delta 44.
When I record at 24bit/44.1 the recording is generally ok, but when I record at 24bit/96 the recording ends up with a hell of a lot of pops and crackles.
I realise this could be caused by a number of things.
My system specs:
AMD Athlon XP 1700
MSI K7T266 Pro2 motherboard
512MB RAM
Leadtek Winfast GeForce3 TI-500
30GB Maxtor HDD
20BG IBM Desktar HDD
Windows XP (in ACPI mode)
I've checked my IRQ's and the soundcard is sharing IRQ16 with the graphics card.
Now of course first off I'm pretty annoyed that a card of this
expense ($AUD600) doesn't work as documented, but that aside, has anyone got any ideas (other than the following) to try?
I've tried the following things to get a remedy without success:
- Turned off graphics acceleration in XP
- Uninstalled the card, removed the drivers, reinstalled the card, to try and get it on a different IRQ
- Tried different M-Audio driver versions (.25 WDM, .27 and .31 beta)
- Disabled COM/Parallel/USB ports (to free up for IRQ change)
- Disabled on-board sound/modem on the motherboard
I'm in the process of doing a complete reinstall but I was just wondering if anyone else has had any trouble with the Delta 44 and what they did, if anything, to remedy it... or any suggestions more than welcome. Thanks guys and gals!!
