Ok, I'm considering getting the Delta 44 still. I have a 4 buss analog mixer and would like to record multitrack to computer. I use cool edit pro, which allows me to record tracks seperately. If I purchase the Delta 44 will I be able to assign each of the seperate tracks in Cool Edit Pro to each of the inputs on the Delta 44?

Sure. I'm not familiar with CEP, but with most software multitrack software, you just assign each input on the soundcard, to a channel/track in the software. Usually 1L is input1, 1R is input 2, 2L is input 3 and 2R would be input 4. Enable record on all the tracks in software and go.

that is the setup i am currently using. yes. you can use one channel to a track X4, in the way Emeric described. One note though, it won't work on Win2k, because CEP doesnt use ASIO drivers and the direct sound drivers from midiman aren't up to par yet.

If anyone HAS gotten this to work, PLEASE correct me and let me know.

What about the WDM drivers for the Delta? Oh, I guess the application needs to support them...

By using 1L as input1, 1R as input 2, 2L as input 3 and 2R as input 4, does this mean that each channel will be panned either left or right? I was hoping to have at least a 4 track recorder with computer. If possible 8, if anybody knows of any other inexpensive 8 input and 8 output interfaces? But wouldn't that really make an 8 input a 4 track in order to make stereo tracks? I'm confused. Help

The inputs are labeled and grouped as stereo pairs, but they are independent mono inputs, and if you assign one to each track, they should all be panned dead center by default. How it outputs them to stereo on playback is up to the software and you.

You can right-click the track and select recording device from that list. That is where you assign the input to your track, in the manner above.

Thanks for the great responses. I understand how to do that now. I'm trying to figure out wether I should get a card with 4 inputs or with 8. I have a 4 buss mixer. It has 4 subs out, six Aux sends, 16 ch. inserts. What should I use to go out to the card. This will help me determine how many inputs on the card is best
