We've been having problems with Pops and Clicks and believe it my be because the IRQ setting for the delta 1010 is too high. Supposedly this is a common issue with XP. We've ( my wife actually) has disabled some devices with lower IRQ settings and now i'm about to open the pc up and try moving the card to a different slot.

Anyone else using a Delta 1010 w/windows XP? How'd you fix it?

Thanks.

Delta needs unique IRQ. I believe actual number does not matter. If it shares IRQ with some other device - you need to diable IRQ steering.

right, i've got to get it below 15 to have it's own IRQ, anything higher are vitual IRQ's which share with a lower setting. I'll look into IRQ steering, don't know anything about that, my wife might, she's the PC techie among us. thanks

There really isn't anything you can do about the high IRQ unless you re-install XP in "Standard PC" mode rather than it's default "ACPI". It's down to the way the motherboard shares resources between the pci slots and onboard devices like USB. Even then you may have to disable an onboard device to get a slot that isn't shared.

As BullsHit points out, it may really be a greedy graphics card doing the damage. XPs ACPI IRQ>15 sharing scheme is very efficient - it is not the same as IRQ sharing under Win98 or Win2000 which the "no sharing" advice for soundcards was originally aimed at. If you have XP in Standard PC mode, you put it back to the old "IRQ holder for PCI steering" thing if you do have a share going on.

My soundcards are both on IRQ higher than 15 with no problems.

High IRQ shouldn't make any difference witrh XP. I'm running 3 Delta cards on IRQ's 21, 22 & 23 and they record and playback (in unison) flawlessly. I suggest you take a look at your DMA buffer size in the delta control pannel and try increasing the number. The lower your computer spec the higher DMA buffer size you will need.

Hope this helps......
