I currently have a broken Delta 1010. It's not under warranty and I got it from a friend. He's wanting $150 for it plus I have to pay $40 an hour to get the repair work done. So, I'm thinking I'll just give it back to him...maybe.

How does the 1010LT and the 66 stack up to the 1010? Aside from the amount of inputs...

Are the sound qualities different? Will I get a "less professional" sound with the 66 as oppose to the 1010 or 1010LT, etc.

Aside from the amount of inputs, what are the real differences between these?

Thanks much! :D

I upgraded from a Delta 66 to a 1010 earlier this year. The sound quality of the 1010 is definitely better. It has better converters, and "they say" that having the converters outside the computer improves the noise floor.

With that said, the delta 66 is still pretty darn good. If you can't get a good recording with the delta 66, it's probably the operator. :D

Is your friend is trying to sell you a broken delta 1010 for $150?? or did you break it?

 The people on this forum are so suspicious of others it seems. I always feel like I have to explain myself...it's ridiculous. :D

My friend is really my cousin. His brother got a new soundcard and gave him the Delta 1010. My friend, who is my cousin (the other one is my cousin too, but he's not the "friend" in question), did not even use the card so he was going to sell it to me for $150. He had no idea it was broken and it worked for his brother. When I finally got it hooked up, it didn't power up. I called M-Audio and they said to send it in for repair at $40/hr.

SO, I'm trying to find a way to save some cash. BUT, at the same time, I don't want something of lesser sound quality if I could just have the 1010 fixed.

There...now wasn't that pointless. Could have just left it at friend like I had said the first damn time... :D :D :D

Of course, you could have been getting at the fact that he's not much of a friend if he's going to sell me a broken 1010. But, due to past experiences on this board...I have to assume the other.

Hey Myriad. They have a new 1010 at $400 in eBay.
Your broken one is $150. That leaves you with a $250 difference, or 6 repair hours. And you have a fixed card against a new one.

So unless you somehow know the amount of hours they will work on the thing, my opinion is that it's not too secure to go that way.

What you could do is try to find some guy with electronics knowledge and see if he can spot a simple failure on it (like a transformer issue, cables, etc)

That's my opinion. I have a 1010 (I used to have a Digi 001) and it's a cool piece of gear. Can't compare it to the others.

Thanks. I'm hoping that it's just the power transformer. I'm going to swap it out and see what's up. Right now, the problem is that it's not powering on.

Seems that most see the 1010 as "sounding better" than the others. I'm cool with that. I'll stick with the 1010 and see if I can't fix the problem without incurring mucho expenses.

for your kind information delta44,delta66,delta1010lt,and delta1010----all are same things from recording point of view.only they are having different feture.---but a/d and d/a are same on all the cards

That's not true.

The 1010 converters are different and the specs show this.

Look at S/N ratio and dynamic range.

You should at least do some research before posting "information". :p

The above articles say the 1010 has AK4393 D-A converters and AK5383 A-D converters and the Delta 66 has AKM4524 converters. I am looking at my Delta 66 right now and it has two AKM 4524VF converters chips. If you check the specs on these converters, you will see that there is a noticeable difference.
