Delta 1010 user. Tell me if the in normal. After about two hours of being on my soundcard will start making frying and crackling noise when it is hot. Then I unplug it for about 20 min and it ok is this normal.

not normal

what makes the noise . The soundcard or recorded files

its not normal, mine has been on for about 17hours now... its not even hot... be sure you have it in a area that it won't get hot... you might burn it out

the speakers or the earphones just crackle, but you can tell its from the soundcard

Hey that happened to me once awhile ag when i had the Delta in a three space rack that was full. It's in something open now. But i remember that i just had to restart my computer and it was fixed....So to be honest i really don't know.

Not normal. Card should be fairly cool at all times. You might want to check out how it is mounted, air flow etc....

Cheers,

Cuzin B

make sure that its not an instrument(sound module) thats connected to the card. I had that problem once and it ended up being a connected sound card

is there a fan or something in there that is suppose to keep it cool, because its in a open rack

I got my 1010 about two months ago. When I hooked it up, I was kind of surprised that it didn't have a power switch, and it just stays on with the computer. I use the same PC for alot of things, and I was concerned about it being on all the time.

For the first couple of weeks, it seemed to get pretty warm in the area around the power supply jack, and it smelled a little like burning electricity. Obviously, I was a little worried about that. I've never experienced any recording related problems though.

I don't have mine racked, it just sits on top of my PC.

Now that I've had it set up for awhile, it doesn't smell or get hot anymore. I guess it just needed breaking in? This seems ridiculous to me, but hey. :)

when you turn you computer off do you soundcard sizzle out before you computer shuts down.

I've never noticed it before, but I just checked, and yes, it does.
