Delta 1010 or other??

After trying out the E-mu 1820, I'm not sure there's anything better in the ~500 price range. Actually, I'm not sure if there's anything better in the 1000 dollar pricerange. I'm not sure if I'd get it over an RME, but it certainly kills my previous M-audio Omni Studio, Audiophile, and Aardvark Q10 cards.

If there's a retail store that has it, and you can convince them to let you have it for a 2 day test drive with possibility of return, I suggest you try it. 8 analog ins, 10 digital ins, 8 analog outs, 12 digital outs.

The Firepod looks good, though i wonder about the drivers (as anyone looking at any new sound card should). if you're interested in linking them together, go for the Firepod. As far as I know, you can't have multiple E-mus in a system.

(Damn, I'd love to put two 1820s in one of those Shuttle SB52g (the small shoebox style PC with the Intel chipset and 2 PCI slots) 36 ins in a portable DAW would just ROCK.)

Yeah not having multiple cards was one thing I was wondering about, and that would have held me back, from getting the E-MU. I'm also a little worried about the drivers on the Firepod, but they say they've been working on them for the last 2 years, and they're stable, plus they said they're still supporting the buggy mLAN Firestation driver(with the new yamaha drivers they seem to have gotten right now), so they seem commit to supporting their products.

Concerning the E-mu...the connection to the audiodock (read: breakoutbox) uses network cable. I personally think it would rock the proverbial casbah if you could use a network hub and connect multiple audiodocks.

Also, the manual mentions that at this time, the 0202 card (that supplies the extra analog pairs of i/o and midi i/o) that comes with the 1212m can't be used simultaneously with the audiodock in place, but will come in future drivers. I called E-mu about getting the separate cards and they say that can be ordered direct from E-mu (if I want to upgrade my 1820 to an 1820m, for example...)

I duuno what to get!

I'm kind of liking this firepod as it has phantom power and pre's for all the ins. So i can just hook up my guitars to it and record.

What are your thoughts? Any comments? Anyone own a firepod?

I'm interested in the Firepod as well but I don't think it has hit the streets yet. Hell, it's not even on the Presonus site yet!
