Delta 1010.....inputs on active monitors...

I have a set of Wharfedale Diamond 8.2A's and I have a question about the inputs. It will accept 3 different input jacks: XLR, 1/4, and RCA. The XLR and the 1/4" plugs are one and the same. The RCA is a seperate plug. My question is, would it harm the speakers if I were to use both the 1/4's and the RCA at once? I have had problems with monitoring my Delta 1010. I can monitor either playback, or the incomming signal...but not both at once and I was wondering if I could route playback to outs 1 and 2 and into the 1/4" inputs on the monitors, and route the incomming signals to outs 3/4 on the delta and put them into the RCA inputs on the monitors...

Any thoughts???

You need to figure out your 1010. It does allow you to monitor the incoming signal along with anything that's playing back. The different connections on the wharf's are'nt there for simulataneous multi inputs. If you need any help understanding the 1010 mixer panel, let me know, and I'll see if I can help you get it going.

well....I thought it should be capable...I currently use a Terratec EWS88/MT and I have no trouble monitoring playback and incomming signals at once....but for some reason, I have not been able to get the Delta configured the same way...do you have any suggestions on how I should set up the Delta's control panel?
 
in the delta mixer panel, go to "Monitor Mixer" and bring up the hardware input levels for any inputs that you're using. these levels are just for monitoring the incoming signals. also, make sure that "WavOut 1/2" level is up. this is your signal going out to your monitors. then go to the patchbay/router and check "monitor mixer" under "HW Out 1/2".

someone should write a "how to" for the m-audio software panel. i know when i got my 1010lt the delta panel was confusing as hell.

dude.... Dude!!! DUDE!!!!!

I have asked this question in the past and have not been able to get the answers I was looking for....I did have my settings correct in the Patchbay/Router tabs....my problem was that I didnt not have the volume fader turned up on my mixer tab....how embarrassing.....Since I already had an 8 channel card I guess I just never spent enough time trying to figure it out on my own....thanks man....
 
yep, someone needs to write a tutorial on this thing for sure. it's such a pain in the ass for a newbie. i can think of more than a few ways that m-audio could improve that panel. what a pain in the ass! not as bad as roland stuff though. :D

thatjeremy, just remember that the settings in the mixer monitor are only active when you have "monitor mixer" checked under the patch panel. it's pretty easy to screw that up........or it was for me. also, if "disable audio app...." under "hardware settings is checked" that can screw with you too. if you're anything like me, don't mess with the delta panel when you're stoned. you'll get it all screwed up and end up with your mic feeding back horribly loud thru your monitors. :D
 
well...im used to the Terratec control pannel...its awesome...very user friendly....at least to me...then I got the Delta.....it looks ancient compared to what Im used to....
Im only changing because from time to time...I get the "blue screen of death" and its always on my soundcard drivers....The problem is not the card because I have sent card back for replacements...on my 3rd one now...tried it in 3 different computers...gotten newest drivers from the net....nothing seems to work. Im satisfied with the sound of the terratec....but crashes can sometimes come at the worst time and when Im working with a paying customer...it sux to lose tracks and have to make them do it all over....especially when I lose a great take...I hope to have better luck with the Delta.
 
I also use a Delta 1010 (rackmount) unit. I used 6 outputs from the delta1010 and connected them to a mixer. From the mixer I use 1/4 cables to hook up the monitors.
 
I thought I was going to have to do that...but I didnt want to go through my mixer...the more you put between your soundcard and your monitors, the more chances you have to degrade your signal....
