Deleting Unused Takes in the Pool

Hi there,

I've been recording for a while but just decided to get back in to it recently with my band but my computer tends to get totally clogged up with audio files in the pool which are unused at the end of the mix.

Does anyone know an easier way of doing this through Kristal (I'm using Kristal atm for just ease of use and space on my computer but I'm more fluent in Cubase!).

I'm a Cubase user too, so can't really advise on the specifics of Kristal, but did you check what the manual says?
 
Ok so I just read the manual and it sucks.

Does each item in the pool have some kind of indicator next to each audio file to indicate whether it's been used or not? If so, your best bet is to just delete from the pool the ones that aren't used. Seems similar to Cubase in that respect...

I know, this probably doesn't help at all, but as I recall I don't think there was a way of doing it any quicker in Cubase really...apart from the fact that when you delete a file from the grid in Cubase, it gives you the option of trashing it.

To be honest, I'm not a fan of quick ways of deleting stuff like that anyway. It makes it too easy to make a fatal mistake.
 
In cubase there is a 'delete unused audio' menu selection. That sends the unused stuff to the trash, which can be emptied later once you have made sure that you really don't need any of that stuff.

Ah yes, I remember now.

Just goes to show how long it's been since I actually recorded anything. :o

Chances are I may not have used it. I'm excessively paranoid about deleting audio files from the pool so it's possible I might have deleted files individually as I went.
 
Haha that's very true - I've done it many times. Nearly as heartbreaking as the project becoming corrupted when you next coming round to record. Only happened once or twice but my faith in everything just totally disintergrated.
