I have been toying with my delay pedal running it through a track channel. I'd like to get an reverb type (room echo)effect with it. I'm trying for a coffee shop solo guitar guy type of feel.

I'll be running it through the Tascam 424

I was interested in y'alls thoughts on this.

You mean to get the delay to sound like a reverb? Is it because you don't have a reverb?
In my experience you need to use several delays or send the same delay to itself through the desk to get some reverb-ish. I've sometimes done this as I don't like my cheap Alesis digital reverb or my equally crappy spring reverb very much.

Would like a proper spring reverb soon.

About the best way to use a delay for ambiance is slapback echo...single repeat with a pretty short rate...otherwise it's reverb for me too.

I've always found it to be necessary to use both reverb and delay (for separate functions) to get the type of ambience I'm looking for. I'm not sure you could ever get delay to sound like reverb, or vice versa.

I almost always send a delay to a reverb to sweeten it. Salt and pepper to add flavor.

There are a lot of advantages to delay instead of reverb on electric guitars in a busy arrangement. Delay synced to the project tempo gives guitars a nice ambience while leaving the overall mix cleaner. At least that's what I've found in my music. Acoustic guitars on the other hand benefit from reverb.

I like to add just a hint of delay...I mean so that it's like a shadow delay...and then send that to a light reverb and blend the two together.

Too much delay...and your the Edge playing U2 songs. :)

Thanks for your comments. I have a digitec DL-8 delay pedal.

It has a slapback delay.... I'll give that a try.

Unfortunately, I don't have a reverb right now. Thank you all for the ideas .... I'll be trying them out a bit in the next week

Cool! That looks like a pretty versatile pedal.

I have Pioneer SR 202 spring reverb that I really like -- like this:

It would make a pretty cool addition to your rig. :) It may have too big of a footprint though.

If you just want an inexpensive reverb pedal, I've used this one, and it sounded perfectly decent. And you can't beat the price with a stick! :)

Thanks for the suggestion.... With one 244 just arriving, and another "parts" on the way, I'd better cool it on the purchases (although that Beringer would fit in the plastic studio bin...... hmmmmmm......)

Justification is one of the necessary skills of being a musician. :)

Sooner than later you're gonna have to get a trailer for your RV. :D
Schedule deliveries for when wifey isn't around and NEVER let her in the trailer.
