hey,

I am just starting with cubase sx 2.2 and I found out that when I try to record vocals it takes some time before I hear it. The same thing happens when I push some buttons(notes) in the key editor.

How can this be fixed? Is it normal in cubase or do I have to change something?

thank,

Most likey you are monitoing through cubase...What you are more than likely hearing is the latency ( if you are you have input and output latency BOTH and that might be highly noticable) what soundcard do you have? Something else to check for good measure ...turn off all your sends to make sure you aren't running an effect or something like that..

Now, I am still using a said onboard consumer soundcard.
Don't know where/how to turn of the sends(still new to using cubase), but what you're saying is, that I should monitor directly, without using cubase.
How do I do that??

If you are using a built-in sound card you most likely won't have the option of direct monitoring... Go into Device Setup and make sure you are using the ASIO driver ( if its available) and then try to adjust the latency settings to get a lower latency. you'll have to play with it to find a suitable latency that is responsive and dosn't hiccup or pop and crackle. http://www.auxbuss.com/downloads/SXC/SX_Complete_Beginners_Guide.pdf

that is a link to an online (though incomplete gotta buy it from them to get the rest) guide that should help you out a bit.

the onboard audio card is the problem. Uncheck the monitor button in Cubase. This should play back the signal before it is processed by cubase. you wont hear any plugin effects though.

I did what you sad, but I still have the latency problem. I will just have to wait untill my new soundcard arrives
It's strange tough, because when I was using Fruity Loops I never had this.

Does anybody know why I have lantency probblems in cubase, but not in fruity loops. I'm using the same hardware for both program's.

thanks,
