Deepest voice

Hey all, ive been trying to figure out what would be a good mic for a REALLY deep voice, something like Andrew Eldritch (Sisters Of Mercy), or Leonard cohen. And to bring it up to a regular volume with out alot of hissing.

Most large condensers have adequate bass response. Sometimes a brighter mic will work well on a deep voice by helping it cut through. I had a pretty good result once by putting an EV RE20 and a Rode NT-1 with their grills touching. The RE20 got the grit, while the Rode gave it a little sparkle.
 
Sennheiser MD-421. I recorded a barbershop quartet several years ago and the 421 did a really good job on the bass singer.
