Dedicated computer sampler

Ok so I have an old 450mhz DAW that works like magic and I was thinking of outfiting as for a dedicated sampler. My question is which software is best for this type of thing? I've heard alot about Gigasampler but I've never used it. Is there anything simpler or better? I really just need something straightforward to use as a sound box.
I intend to use a keyboard and MIDI messages to trigger samples.

Any thoughts?
 
C'mon, someones got to know of a good sampler program for an older machine. MIDI controlled...something.

Anyone?
