Dedicated audio hard drive

I plan on installing a second hard drive ( 7200 rpm, 40G). I plan to use the original hard drive (15G) for Windows, Internet, etc, and the new, larger hard drive for audio. I assumed that the audio software (Cakewalk, Soundforge) would go on the audio hard drive, but I read that all software goes on one hard drive and only audio files are saved to the audio drive. Any suggestions? Thanks.

You want to install your recording software on the same hard drive that your operating system is, the 15GB in your case. Use your 40GB for audio *.wav files only. Somewhere within Cakewalk there should be a setting to have all wav files written to a location. D:\song1 for example.

Best to create seperate folders for each song, and setup your software to record in the appropriate folder. Makes backing up of data easier, and avoids overwritting any files.
