death by audio pedals

anyone else using these? i got a couple (an "interstellar overdrive" and an "octave clang") in a trade with a guy who works for them, and these things rule. the interstellar overdrive is kind of a bass heavy boost/overdrive pedal and the octave clang is a kind of a mix of an octavia, a ring modulator and a fuzz. their web propaganda says that folks like ween, wilco, spoon and jet use their pedals. at first i thought the octave clang was shite while running my hamer usa archtop w/ joe barden hb's through it, but once i switched to my g&l legacy (strat-- far less gain) it made all of these crazy octave/ring modulator noises. cool stuff. the overdrive pedal made me go into narcissistic blues jam mode for like 20 minutes straight on each guitar.

I've been wanting to check out the guys stuff for a while, but I haven't seen any around here since they're kind of boutique stuff. I think they'd be great to keep around the studio to get crazy sounds and stuff. I'm not sure if many would provide much practical use live though unless your doing experimental/noise stuff.

it sounds like they might have recorded the stuff direct. i noticed a huge difference in the resulting sound between my two guitars (one with high output joe bardens, one with still loud, but significantly less so seymour duncan and fender red lace sensor strat sized humbucker pickups, though i noticed it evened out the final output for even the stock middle on my g&l strat).
the total sonic annihilation pedal, which i understand is their most noted pedal is supposed to be really kind of esoteric and noise oriented, but the overdrive i got seems like it'd be useful in a number of contexts.
i can try to put together some sound clips this week/end, but they'd have to be pod'ed for now.

if i thought i'd use that octave clang thing at All, then i'd buy it. sadly, i wouldn't, and it'd just sit on my pedal board, collecting dust. and i'd switch it on for every new song. and everyone would always tell me to switch it off.

wow. it sounds like a Storm or something. with t'under and lightnin' and Everyt'ing. wow. i went abit yorkshire there...
