Hey, I recognize that guitar playing.... same guy as All There Is, right?? Love it!!

Yeah, the girl can sing. Very talented.

You don't have the vox in the same space as the rest of the song. It doesn't fit with everything else. All the instruments are up front and in your face, but the vox has a quick slapback or doubling and short reverb. I can really hear the room in the vocal track... or something like that. I think the vox could be more dry.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, Dave. She's coming in to retrack it tomorrow. I'll work on it.

Great talent for one so young..bloody hell

nice guitar as well...the backing seemed a little crowded at times (listen to me, like i know) but gave it a little middle eastern twang...Chili's right her voice was in a different space..

nice one :)

She has got a very impressive voice.

Excellent work overall.

The one thing that stuck out as strange is that some of the instruments seemed to be panning back and forth a little (specifically the vocals and the Spanish guitar). That kind of effect might work in the context of a musical (more so for the vocals than the guitar, unless the guitarist is a character in the scene), but it's a little awkward for just listening.

Otherwise, I was quite impressed.

Very promising young lady.....:)
Great spanish guitar playing. Orchestra in the background sounds very nice although a bit detached from the rest. And then the unmistakable Wig flute..;). I like the rythmic feel of it a lot. Nice work!

Joey :):):):)

Terrific arrangement and excellent song Wig.
The vox are oddly placed for a "song" but would need that "out frontness" for the stage.
Her performance is pretty good.
Is the ending deliberatly abrupt? I don't know it's context.
Well done so far!

Nice job Wig.

My daughter is 9, is pretty talented...sings in chorus at school and stuff, but this little one is really surprisingly expressive and confident sounding. It is cool to hear that ability coupled with a voice that just naturally sounds so young...unique :).

Her dad's guitar sounds pretty freakin' nice too.

Mix sounds good...arrangement seems pretty dense at times (nice clarity though). As mentioned, voice and instruments are in very different spaces, but that may be intentional in relation to the genre which I have less than zero experience with...:o:). Nice work!

Thanks, kcearl,

Yeah, I know what you mean about a different space. I'm reluctant to mess with this until she retracks the vocal. I think I cloned her track and nudged one of them a frame or so. Sometimes I do that to get a false reverb. I'll see if I can get the next attempt to sit in the mix better.

Thanks, Steve,

I messed around with the panning back and forth just for the hell of it. But now that you mention it, it's kind of stupid. I'll have to tame that down. Obviously, the guitar player is not going to run back and forth across the stage in a musical. I don't know what I was thinking.

Thanks, Joey,

This piece is a but busy by design because I'm trying to portray the concept of inertia with sound as well as lyrics. It's almost like some big machine that once it gets going, it can't stop itself. Yes, Tyler has a lot of talent. She'll probably outgrow my little fledgling studio by the time she's ten.:D

Thanks, Ray,

I wrote the ending as really abrupt originally. All the strings stopped at once. Then when I added some lead guitar, (Tony Sams) I just let it sustain past the cutoff of the strings. I'm not really sure how to end a song about inertia.

Thanks, Heatmiser,

I don't have much experience with the genre either aside from attending a few musicals. It seems that the vocals usually sit right in the middle of the mix from the orchestra, which is in a pit in the center of the stage. That's what I'm shooting for, but I don't think I've gotten there yet. I'm hoping when we retrack Tyler, I can add a little warmth to her voice and automate it to rise and fall in the center of the mix. Sounds good in theory.

Wig:)

Yes she is a little "bright" in the mix now - reminds me of all the "Annie" stars though. That big strong voice in a tiny body.

Your arrangement works well and I'm pretty happy with the mix as you have it. The panning is okay by me but you're right it probably should be centered.

:D:cool::D:cool:
