FYI I got two great deals on shockmounts this weekend.

Deal #1 GC had the Oktava Mk-012 listed on sale for $39 each with a list of $79.

I had $150 cash and they had an Echo Darla 24/96 (with TRS ins and outs) new in open box for $99. Not the BEST soundcard from what I have read but beats my old OEM Sound Blaster 64!

When I asked (acting ignorantly) about the price on the mounts if that was for each he lokked to see if he could get me a better deal. I told him I just had the $150 for everything.

How about $25 each?

Deal! $150 for all and I mumbled about "except for the tax" and they rang it up for $150 tax included!

Deal # 2 there is a guy on e-bay selling the MXL-57 Shock mount that fits the V-67 and V-69 for no reserve and a buy it now option of $21 + $6 S&H!

I tried to time my bid for one yesterday that was listed at $19 high bid but I got on a minute too late and it sold for $19. Then I looked for more and noticed a buy it now option @ $21 and took it.

He may have more but I only neede one... his user ID is pro69camaro.

I promise I am not spamming for him it just sounded like a great deal and once I secured mine;) I wanted to pass it on.:D

I bought a universal shockmount made by Sabre-Som. I bought it from The Soundroom for 40 or 50 dollars, I don't remember. It fits all my mikes and it's a good value if you end up with a large mic collection.

I've bought from that guy. Good ebayer. He sold me a dman2044 break-out box for $30... I don't think he realized it had the card with it... I turned around and sold the whole package for about $90. :D

Does GC do internet sales?

I don't have one anywhere near me, and that price is awfully good...

I've heard the horror stories about GC and the QC of the MK012's they get...is it really THAT bad? For that price, I'd almost be willing to take the chance at having them grab 2 at random and ship them to me....

GC 012's...

I got mine from there (2 of 'em) before I knew anything about them or quality control issues and had no problems....They just said to me, if you have any problems just bring 'em back and we'll replace them....so I don't think you'd have a problem working something out with them....they seem pretty flexable...

One of the most important things to know about buying audio gear is that in most cases, it is sold by comissioned salesman, and is like buying a car. For a regular customer, they'll mark down the little stuff a lot, and it can add up. Yes, indeedy, on the same day I bought an AKG D690 for $34, and an Oktava MK319 for $99. They're now advertising $149. Yes, I bought them at Guitar Center. Also, if you're a regular customer, you can often get really good deals on returned or demo stuff in new condition. I got my AKG C2000B there for $99. Brand new Road Ready multi-mic cases $50, and very slightly used B.L.U.E Kiwi quad cables $19 each x4! It's taken the better part of a year to get even with them for paying sticker price on a pair of high-end axes, but I've done it. Once you realize you're in a car dealership, the rest is a piece of cake...Richie

memriloc,

Where did you get your 012's and what price?

My 012's

Got them at Guitar Center Sunset Blvd Hollywood....Got 'em for $99 USD as advertised, but I bought a couple of mic box and a shock mount for the 319 I bought there 2 days earlier and I got the lot for about $130 out the door. Now all we have to do is hope our next lot of gigs in the US is somewhere near shops like these... :)

FYI: Musician's Friend is the online "arm" of Guitar Center.

Musician's Friend started out as a separate company (indeed, they had retail stores for awhile), but they were acquired by GC a few years ago.
