....listened to the dry mix...the piano and song are excellent...the emotion really comes through....I found myself struggling to understand the lyrics...the performance sounded heartfelt but maybe the lead vox could come up a bit....I agree with studioviols last comments...nice work though!

studioviols - Thx man, I'll try and reduce the background vocals here, your comments are appreciated.

MC Gitarz - Hey, thx for listening.

chrisharris - Hey Chris, thanks for checking it out.

MAC2 - Thanks for your comments, I think I'm close on this one.

I have to go listen to something upbeat now or my head will be hanging all day... seriously, very touching. Excellent job.

cool song....quality wise everything seemed a lil blurryi. e running into each they don't have there on distinct 'space'...maybe its the mp3 conversion... did you play the piano? if so great job!

Beautiful song. Piano part is perfect (I can't even imagine it with reverb added). Vocals are very nice. Can you spread the piano out? I think it might clear some room for those main vocals which seem like they need to come up. In a song like this, the listener should not struggle to hear the words IMO. Backgrounds are super nice, but loud compared to the main vocal. Strings are very nice touch. Wonderful.

Jephhd - Sorry man! True, this song is not for every moment of the day. Lots of fun stuff on this board though to reverse things.

Teacher - Yep, that piano playing is me. Thx for listening.

skids - Thanks for the comments, they were acknowledged...as I've updated the song for (hopefully) the last time, just reduced the background vocal and strings a touch.

Thanks man,

It's the trusty ol' Roland XP-30, Patch 9ft Grand2, added a touch of verb. Lots of nice piano sounds on that thing.

The song is very touching...this sounds more like a live performance...the piano is distant and if it was closer to our ears I think that your music would be just that more beautiful...

I notice the string samples against the piano...I think we are just looking at improving the balance here...just my opinion

Thanks for sharing and helping me learn...

How can anyone not be down with that song??
That's what I call a song that represent the feelings of the author!! Nice job!

Hey Lynxy,
Nice one man. I guess im in after the mix change, because I like the verb usage in this. Nicely written song too.... It sounds like you took alot of time getting this just right. Its funny how sometimes fewer tracks =more work. ...damn this recording shit all to hell:D

Not alot to add, Nice tune brudda 5

Wonderful song. Great performance. Mix-wise, the voice is very dark and somewhat indistinct. It does sound kind of "live". I'd really like to have a lot more clarity on the vocals. It sounds kinda like you recorded them with a very cheap mic.

The song is so beautiful - it deserves more clarity on those vox - that's my take.

Chris

This is nice

BUT--bring the vocals up in the mix--the piano is burying them just a bit. The playing is great but this is a piece about the words.

renagade - Thx. I've ben fooling around with drum machines for a longtime and wanted to strip everything down and make a live-sounding performance.

BloodShark - Thx for the nice comments Blood.

Guernica - Hey Guernica. Actually, I had the idea for the song's subject matter and it was pretty much finished in a day. As usual, the mixing has taken forever :)

groucho - Nice to hear from you groucho. Vocals are noted, I'm planning on re-recording this soon as part of a group of acoustic guitar / piano songs I'm doing.

sloop - Hey sloop, noted and thx for the comments.

This is excellent - a very touching song, and I don't think it's cliche - it's just simple and honest.

The piano sounds great. Lovely singing, and the backing vocals are beautiful and sparingly used. Strings sound great too, and I love the wee synth thing in the earlier verses too.

Comments:

A bit more clarity in the main vocal would be nice - it's a little buried sometimes. EQ might help, and a different mic might be good too - what did you use to track the vocal?

Either spread the piano, or move it a bit to one side; this would help give the vocal a wee bit of its own space. I'd put the synth and the strings on the other side of the panorama to balance the piano.

Main and backing vocals are perfect in terms of panning.

Just a wee bit more "air" on the mix as a whole, and you'd be there.

But what really matters is that it's a beautiful song, beautifully performed.

Cheers

AB

Very heartful and touching, can really feel the emotion in this. Truly emotive vocals and the piano writing was excellent in combination.

I'd have to say when the strings widen it at 2:35 it really came alive for me.

alibish - Thx man for listening.

Khompewtur - Thanks Khomp, I appreciate the listen.

very good, and very touching.

i'd like more lead vocals as well.

everything else, well, it all just *fits*.

beautiful.
