........well here's a toast to Chris's good health. I hope all is well. ........and hurry back before i drink all of this...........
.............burp

Well shit...........and I'm just getting to his song. I hope it's nothing too serious, here's to Chris who did my avatar for me. Get well buddy!

Thanks for the heads-up about Chris, jamal.

I hope all is well with him.The hospital SUCKS.

Nice guitar parts - they work well together. I liked the sound of your voice on this one as well. Decent harmonies.

Someone mentioned there's a lot at the high end. I agree, just a bit.

As far as lyrics - I believe they were stolen from the B52's. :D

Excellent tunage man....

shit loads better than I can do...............
that should make you feel a little better... :D

The others have commented on the gear and technical issues so.......
I'll just say that the tune is awesome.....
absolutely wonderful vox harmonies....
great arpeggios....
the phase shift on the lead doesn't bother me at all....
it would be a good spot for a pedal steel though....ya know?

I hope you are home soon and well...
Take good care man,
Joe

Hey Chris,

I would write you some kind of hallmark get well soon kind of thing, but I'm too drunk off my ass right now to rhyme ...

Hope all is okay and get well soon! :)

i know i'm late to the party here but Chris you gotta start using LAME VBR encoding. It is really hard to comment on a 128 mp3 mix since it mangles the high end of the mix.

i like the song and your vocals and harmonies are excellent as usual. i think the mic is doing a good job on the guitars from what i hear but i comment on the voice cause the mp3 is causing so many problems.

i also currently use the akg c3000b for vocals and need to change so i'm anxious to hear what you wind up with on vocals. i've seen a lot of recommendations for the c1 and the 4033 and heard a lot of good recordings using both so i can't decide.

so when you gonna get back to 'every chance i get'? i still listen to that often.

I Ain't Dead...

Hey People:

I've had this thing for the last couple of weeks that started as just a bug and then went nuts in my body. I actually got put on IV's last week, but I didn't get much better after I got home.

Then, as I kept hurling, I got REALLY dehydrated and I couldn't do things like remember by phone number...or where my pants were. Then, right before I got admitted to the hospital again on Monday, I got TOTALLY whacked out and decided it would be a good idea to record the words of a 19th Century poet and post it in the clinic.

Anyway, they shot a camera down into my stomach and they think they know what the problem is and I'm gonna' live (sorry Sam :D) I'm home now, and I appreciate the gear check and the well-wishers, and "thanks" to Jamal for explaining my rudeness in not replying sooner.

Oh yeah, my wife felt so sorry for me that she agreed to another gear purchase (preamp)...so I'll keep you posted there.

I'm operating on about 3 cylinders rigth now, and I don't think I'd do a decent job of thanking ya'll individually, and the meds would probably make me say something sappy, so for this one time, I'm just gonna' cop out and say THANK YOU to those who listened and helped...

Nice song for sure.

I agree with Crawdad about that mic and your vocals. You have a good voice, but that mic is killing it. It's overally sibilant in places, whether that's the mic, the placement or the way you sound - it needs to be addressed.

I like the acoustics, the phasing leads are too loud imo. Nice harmonys, maybe some reverb on them?

Nice tune!

chris, your voice is just freakin wonderfull!!!! and the harmonie's!!! fanfuckintastic!!! im done:D

thank's, man

peace

Glad to hear you're gonna make it man.You sound wore out.Go flake out on the couch and do nothing for a few days.

Now THAT would make me ill. :D Thanks, Kramer.

I wanted to address a couple of other comments too before letting this go for good (or bad ;) )

Guernica and Gidge - I love what you said about Jaimee's song. Another very cool member of this BBS (who shall remain nameless unless he wants to say something) has graciously offered to record Jaimee CORRECTLY...I'm totally stoked, and so is she, since neither of us have ever been in a "studio," no matter how modest. It looks like maybe it'll happen over Christmas. I actually requested permission from Patty Griffin's label (which it was cool enough to provide, with certain stipulations...like NO RETAIL SELLING), but I think I want her to record an original. She writes some, but I can't help horning in on the writing. Anyway, that should be fun.

muzeman - that's me singing all of the backups. Jaimee's too good to help her old man out anymore. Thanks

JR#97 - Thanks for the advice. I'm gonna' give the preamp a shot, and I'm going for the Studio Projects' C1 for the vocal. I appreciate what you're saying about the preamp, but I figure SOME preamp should be better than what I've been using, right? Anyway, as for that fucked up sound on the leads, it's...hang on, lemme' check..."WAVES- Meta Flanger" Preset to "Ampex 440." After the strong opinions on the last tune's lead tones (yours included), I made a conscious effort to use some TOTALLY out of place effect on every recording from now on...the only criteria is that I have to like it. I liked the sound on this one tune. Thanks, as always, for your careful ear.

erichenryus - Your vocals sound great, and I noticed that you put a "b" on the end of your mic. I had been using the AKG C3000 (no 'b'), and it does make a difference. AKG fixed a lot of the problems that I'm stuck with on your model, and I think your mic and everything you do with it sounds great. (I'm going with the C1 soon).

emeric - I'm ditching the new mic for vocals after this tune. That's one DEFINITE. The reason I wanted to try it is b/c the one I'm using is notorious for it's harshness, and I'm the most sibilant vocalist I've ever heard. Seriously, I don't speak with a lisp or anything, but I have the loudest fucking ESSES in the world. There's a huge notch in my vocal channel when I play live right at 8K, and the compressor on my vocal has like a 15:1 squish in the same frequency. Your quote killed me..."IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED." No shit. If I address it any more, I'm afraid there won't be any consonants left in any of my vocals. I'm hoping a "softer" mic will help. Thanks.

joro - I like the pedal steel too. This one's not worth the trouble, but I'm gonna' get back to that instrument just as soon as I can.

Fenderlikingood - - I wish you didn't have a real job so you could just hang out here all the time. Thanks

OH YEAH...THE REASON I'M POSTING AGAIN IS BECAUSE I PUT UP A FINAL VERSION, AT 320KPS. I CAN TELL NO DIFFERENCE WHATSOEVER BETWEEN IT, AND THE WAV, SO IF THE SOUND SUCKS, IT'S JUST ME. THANK YOU FOR DOWNLOADING IT AND RIPPING IT APART!!!

:D
