Hi. I accidentally had the MS button on my Octane when I recorded a band. I never have done any MS teqniques before. One channel was a bass direct, and the other was a sax mic. The width was all the way up. One of the channels also had the phase button in. When I flip the phase on one of the channels, the bass almost totally disappears. Anyway, anyone know if I could restore these to two discrete tracks, more or less? I'm using Pro-Tools and Sound Forge. Thanks for any help!

If I understand you correctly, you're screwed. MS or Middle-Side mixing that your Octane "encoded" was ment to take a Middle mic (normally a cardiod mic) and have it panned center (Left and Right) and a Side mic (always a figure 8 mic, condensor or ribbon), splits that channel and sends one side to the "Left" out and the other is polarity reversed and sent to the "Right" channel. If you sent two sources through the Octane channels that do the "MS encoding", they're been mangled.

I'm not getting the full picture here. Exactly how was everything set up? Was each instrument being recorded to its own track? Were they mono tracks?

one signal was direct, and the other was a figure 8 ribbon. They were recorded with the encoding.
