dbx Mini Pre

Has anyone had any experience with the dbx mini pre, I'm looking to buy a condensor mic (possibly the Studio Projects C1) and need a fairly low cost pre to go with it. My buget ideally for the lot is between £250 and £300. Any suggestions or comments.

I like the Art better

I took one home and A/B'd it with my Art V3 pres in my DPS (pretty sure they are the same ones in the 1 channel Art V3 pre), and thought the Art blew it away. Caveat here is that the single channel arts have an external "wall wart" transformer, and some say that they are suceptible to RF noise.

Most of the gain out of the DBX was super noisey. I only tried it with a B1, a 57, and a 58, not much of a test, but I concluded that the Art was cleaner gain, and had more toob options with the v3 knob.

Hopefully some of the more knowledgable members will jump in here and give you some better info.
