Ive been seeing this peice on ebay, and in alot of studio equipment lists. Im curious on what some of you that have them think of these.

Thats the 263 dude, Its a good one though Ive been using one for a year now that only costed me $10 on ebay.

The 163 is the compresser, I aim to use it in the insert path on my vtb1 along with the 263.

Oops, yer right. I've never used a 163. The one on Ebay looks like it might go for $30 or so. Looks worth picking up to me.

I've got a couple of 163 compressors (had em for years).

Very down and dirty little units.

Basically a knob for gain control and a slider for compression ratio. Actually easier to use than most of the rack units that have many more control parameters.

Dude,

The 163s are great little units for the 40 or 50 bucks you get em for these days. I have often heard them referred to as the the Sm57 of the compressor world and I can attest to that vibe. They do a great job on almost anything in a pinch but sound great on kick, snare and bass guitar.

Operation could not be any easier.....ride the slider till you like the sound. I think everyone should have at least 2 of these things...you'll notice that most big studios even have a bunch around.

Cant go wrong...try one out!
